Hidden Beauty

During the pandemic I began exploring scanner photography as an alternative form of photography. "Scanography" involves the use of a flatbed scanner rather than a camera to create digital images.  The objects are arranged on top of the scanner with the lid open in a dark room.  The moving bar of soft light seems to wrap itself around the subject bringing out intricate details, often overlooked, in high resolution images that are both rich in color and texture. Using botanical specimens as my subjects, it was a way to continue my creative efforts during the lockdown and self-isolation.
